Peace, Tranquillity, and Dreamy Sunsets at Mövenpick Resort Bangtao Beach Phuket
Perfect….the perfect base for our time in Phuket, Thailand. Movenpick Resort Bangtao Beach Phuket was exactly what we wanted and so much more. We knew our time in Thailand was going to be pretty hectic, there was so much we wanted to do and see that we were going to be busy busy busy….and returning here after long days exploring was just perfect. As soon as we stepped through the entrance into the lobby after the long flights from the U.K via Dubai we could not help but feel relaxed.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming, we were greeted with smiles, beautiful flower bracelets and lovely welcome drinks which we enjoyed in the lobby. We had a pretty complicated itinerary whilst staying here with so many trips planned, we would be spending a day in Bangkok, visiting the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary (read about this experience of a lifetime here!), and spending two separate days on different boat trips then flying onto Singapore before Bali. The member of reception staff spent time with us helping us plan our transportation for each trip if we needed it explaining all of the different options and prices, this really was massively helpful…and we really got the impression that the staff were happy to help us and that they wanted us to have the most enjoyable time we could during our stay.
When we were shown to our one bedroom residence we could not stop smiling. Wow! We stepped into the huge open plan living/dining room with our own kitchen at one end and doors which opened out onto a ginormous private balcony which overlooked the gorgeous pool area. We could even see through between the buildings of the accommodation opposite us to the sea.
We had been transported to a tropical Thai paradise somehow married with Movenpick’s own Swiss minimalist luxury style and it was just awesome! The design of this hotel is brilliant, so well thought out with so much attention to detail, with all of the luxury and facilities of a huge resort with just 40 residences it feels like you are in a very exclusive hideaway.
We were shown all of the features of our accommodation by a member of reception staff whilst chill out music played through the Bose sound system. Everything inside the residence was of such high quality, the hard wood flooring, the huge corner sofa in the living room, the flat screen TV, the solid wood furnishings, this was more like a home than a hotel room.
I had some of the best nights sleep here…ok granted we were usually pretty tired when we collapsed onto this bed after all of the exploring and adventures during our time in Phuket, but the bed was so comfortable and luxurious, lying down on this bed thinking of everything we had seen and experienced during the day was another smile inducing moment. The best way of drifting off to sleep.
So the residence compromised of the large open plan living/dining room with a fully stocked functional kitchen. A toilet and washroom. Bedroom with a huge en suite bathroom with a double sink, bath and walk in power shower. The balcony really was big, It stretched the entire width of the building and was all ours, I’ve never had anything like this at any other hotel.
Here you can see our balcony on the first floor of this building spanning the entire width. Every morning waking up and walking out onto this balcony and letting where we were sink in became a morning tradition of mine! I loved every minute of our stay here and we really made the most of it.
Movenpick prides itself on providing an enjoyable culinary experience…they have definitely provided this at Movenpick Resort Bangtao Beach Phuket. There are so many ways to enjoy dining here as well, a table away from anyone else outside near to the pool and water features, a table outside under cover, a table inside the lovely restaurant, freshly caught fish barbecued for you outside in front of you. We loved the food here.
Thai food is amazing and they had a great range on offer here alongside western dishes if you were feeling a little less adventurous. Our favourites were the chicken satay starter and Massaman Curry but everything we had was so delicious and the restaurant was lovely, eating here felt like a special night out, it was like a date night within our holiday! Great fun!
Breakfast was another fun time too. It was great exploring everything on offer at the buffet…so much colour, beautifully presented, everything so inviting. There were things I’d never tried before next to some of my favourites (eggs, bacon, and sausages!).
Breakfast became an event! We loved wandering around the buffet deciding what to have next, the colour of the fruit! We just could not say no! I tried dragon fruit for the first time here too and it was really tasty, something totally different.
Cooked food, fruit, salad, vegetables, eggs or omelettes cooked to order to your liking, pancakes, crepes, a whole bakery section, fresh juices, this was an amazing breakfast…up there with the very best I have experienced anywhere in the world.
Even though we had so much planned during our time in Phuket, Thailand we were able to spend some of our time chilling out by the great pool at the hotel with its swim up bar. There are plenty of sun loungers and covered day beds…it rained a couple of times during our stay, but one time we stayed out on our day bed under cover with the sound of the rain hitting the roof, chilling out reading, sipping on a cold beer…amazing.
Bang Tao Beach is literally on the door step of Movenpick Resort Bangtao Beach Phuket. Pick up a beach towel, step out through a door and across a road is 6 kilometres of white sand beach with blue waves rolling in. Everytime we stepped onto the beach there were couples having there wedding photographs taken, people playing, but it wasn’t crowded at all, with so much space everyone could have their own little piece of paradise.
It really is a spectacular beach, this hotel holds a very privileged position here on the west coast of Phuket. On our last night at the hotel we took a stroll down to the beach and caught the most amazing sunset I have ever seen…magical, otherworldly, completely breathtaking…I have never seen a sunset as beautiful as this, even though the sky was not completely clear, the scattering of clouds seemed to add to it. Nature provides the most beautiful moments.
The location was great for us, transport to all of the activities we wanted to take part in was easily organised and affordable and it was within easy reach of Phuket Airport. The hotel even has its own very comfortable transport which can booked with reception.
Movenpick say they aim to create resorts which reflect a sense of place and respect for their local communities. They have carried this out with perfection at Movenpick Resort Bangtao Beach Phuket where there are still hints of their Swiss heritage which adds to the experience staying here. Something else which is so important is that Movenpick is committed to supporting sustainable environments, they have become the most green-globed certified company in the world.
I have never stayed at a Movenpick resort before, but following this experience I will certainly be looking out for them wherever we travel in the future.
As always…thank you for reading! Happy Travels!
Our stay here was partly subsidised by Movenpick…but as always all opinions are my own…this really is an amazing place to stay!
